Globalwarming awareness2007

Our Planet Earth is getting warmer! The prevailing scientific opinion on climate change is that "most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities".

The main cause of the human-induced component of warming is the increased atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as carbon dioxide (CO2). This leads to warming of the surface and lower atmosphere by increasing the greenhouse effect.

Greenhouse gases are released by "human activities" such as the burning of fossil fuels (aka gasoline, diesel, oil etc), land clearing (mowing down entire forests for the insatiable human appetite for land), and agriculture.

Global warming is expected to influence both the natural environment and human life. Some anticipated effects include sea level rise, repercussions to agriculture, Shutdown of thermohaline circulation, glacier retreat, reductions in the ozone layer, increased intensity and frequency of hurricanes and extreme weather events, lowering of Ocean pH, and the spread of disease.

GlobalWarming Awareness2007 is a blog focusing on creating awareness of our planet's problems.
